SASI Home Care Aides
A home care aide is sometimes known as a caregiver, a home services worker, a home care worker, a homemaker, a companion, a personal care attendant, a direct care worker, or a resident assistant. There are many names for this job, in part because of different settings in which care may take place.
Home care aides provide nonmedical home care, which involves such activities as:
- Personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, mouth care, feeding, medication reminding)
- Mobility assistance (transferring, balance and walking assistance)
- Homemaker tasks (meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry)
- Errand and appointment assistance and transportation
Home care aides can be employees of the agency or independently employed. Learn more about the difference.
